Colorado Mountain Made Gear & Products – Everything you need to Enjoy Summer in the Mountains

Memorial Day Marks the beginning of summer and we thought it would be appropriate to highlight a few of our favorite summer finds from this past year. The list of Entrepreneurs crafting incredible products in our communities is two miles high. From decorating your mountain cabin to backpacking, river sports, trail snacks and more. These are some Mountain Town Media Productions tested items you should consider for your Mountain Town Gear cache!

Bar U Eat

Two Steamboat Springs friends came together to craft an organic, granola based snack food company called BAR-U-EAT. The founding principles of the company came together to craft a sustainable, organic, non GMO, gluten free and absolutely delicious product in completely, compostable packaging with 1% of all sales going to environmental non profits. We had the opportunity to sample their product line and fell in love with all of their flavors (Original, Oatmeal Raisin, Coffee Pecan, Peanuts N’ Cherries) available as both bars and packaged bites. We think they accomplished their goals and then some. The bars are fantastic. Find a location to buy through their website or order online.

Osprey Packs

The Fairview Trek 70 and Fairview Trek 75 were tested extensively in Germany, Italy and Iceland as a travel pack for mountain and urban exploration. For this trip we utilized Osprey’s Ultra Light Packing Cube set. These packs were able to carry everything needed to be away from home comfortably for over 45 days. A smaller zip on and off pack that attaches to the back made it convenient to carry every necessity needed once we were settled into a basecamp. Based out of the Southwestern Colorado town of Cortez, Osprey has been crafting packs for every need and doing it with exceptional talent and first hand experience from traveling the world.

Tina’s Wreath and Home Co. everyday & seasonal wreaths are crafted from her home workspace. All wreath features are faux and/or preserved to last many seasons with proper care. Choose from 38 different designs or work directly with her to bring your vision to life.

Grass Sticks SUP Paddles

Bamboo makes an incredibly high-performance paddle and although it doesn’t grow in Steamboat Springs, Grass Sticks make SUP and Canoe Paddles that may very well last an entire lifetime. Their bamboo’s long continuous fibers and natural medium/stiff flex result in an extremely responsive paddle. This makes braces, draws and other advanced strokes feel like second nature, all while putting less stress on your body. Blades are available in 2 sizes and 3 colors of fiberglass and carbon fiber. Choose a T or palm grip with any length shaft for a perfect and personal fit. The SUP Stick is tough enough for the rapids of the Rockies but light enough for long days of touring or surfing. The shaft is a carefully selected piece of solid bamboo, with a beautiful hand finish. GrassSticks offers fully custom builds and a variety of ready-to-ship options. Get one for your River and Lake Paddle adventures.
