The leaves are starting to change and the air is beginning to feel like Fall! I think we are all ready for the season to begin and the prayers for snow are LOUD. Honestly, we will take moisture in any form at the moment.

My office stares directly at the 10 Mile Range and the Continental Divide, and we saw a shimmer of snow recently and can’t wait for more. What will El Niño bring?
Our Autumn issue opens with a fantastic story about Leadville written by local resident Donna Childress. Her passion for the place and community is palpable. We hope you learn all about their great amenities and spots for adventure. The fires this past summer really made a dent in the community’s finances. If you have not been in Leadville for a long time, you will be surprised at the incredible food and shopping scene that has developed. Head up and spend the day, a weekend, or longer and explore how special this town is.
As the owner and publisher of this magazine, I have a passion for the businesses that make our mountain towns the unique destinations that people like to discover. We have some amazing Makers, Entrepreneurs, and Business folks up here. Flip forward and read about them. We are pretty stoked on the story, The Business of Feeding Student Athletes, as well as the Tuxedo Corn Company’s latest venture in the way they choose to bring their product to the consumer.
There is a particularly important and special story on Alpine Guide Kees Brenninkmeyer and his legacy after a fatal accident, the Kees Brenninkmeyer Foundation. Our local community is filled with career adventurers and guides who followed their passion into the field and made it a career assisting others in getting outside. Joy Elizabeth Martin brings this story to life on page 28. Maybe you can help their mission once you have discovered why it was created.
Fall in Colorado’s mountain towns brings a plethora of film festivals, all worthy of your time and attention. It is the perfect way to enjoy time during the mud season months. We have a great round-up along with a filmmaker feature on Chris Anthony’s -Friedl, and a closing story on the “Big Dog” of film festivals coming to Boulder in January—Sundance Film Festival!
Autumn’s Harvest is in full swing and we have 12 Western Colorado Farms, Orchards & Wineries With Heart for you to discover in our Dine Local section. Fall, to me, is all about food, and we have a lineup of stories on wineries, beer, distilled spirits, and restaurants to enjoy around our region.
Art, Family Adventure, Places to Play, Road Trips, and our Calendar of Events will have you planning Autumn escapes well into the Spring.
Our closing page, Last Lift, is special. 16-Year-Old Liam Siegel reached out with an image he captured in Beaver Creek. He is passionate about photography, and we love his parting shot.
