Friedl – The extraordinary True Story of Friedl Pfeifer and Aspen Ski Corporation
FRIEDL is a Powerful New Documentary about a Man with a Dream to Build a World Class Ski Area
FRIEDL is the powerful new documentary from professional skier and award-winning filmmaker Chris Anthony that tells the extraordinary true story of Friedl Pfeifer — a 10th Mountain Division WWII veteran and the visionary founder of Aspen Ski Corporation.
Chris Anthony invites you to experience FRIEDL, his powerful new documentary, through an intimate nationwide tour. As the filmmaker, Chris will personally introduce each screening and join audiences afterward for a live Q&A, offering behind-the-scenes stories and insights into the remarkable life of Friedl Pfeifer.
This nonprofit tour is designed to raise awareness and support for the Chris Anthony Youth Initiative Project, with a portion of proceeds benefiting local partnering nonprofits that help organize screenings in their communities.
FRIEDL was Born and raised in St. Anton, Austria, Pfeifer rose to become one of the country’s top alpine ski racers before fleeing the Nazi regime. He eventually made his way to the United States, where he became an American citizen.
Driven by a deep love for his wife and a dream to build a world-class ski resort, Pfeifer returned to Europe during World War II to serve with the famed 10th Mountain Division.
Severely wounded and left for dead on the battlefield in Italy, he miraculously survived and returned to America — determined to fulfill his vision. His journey led him to the small mining town of Aspen, Colorado, where he played a pivotal role in transforming it into one of the most iconic ski destinations in the world.
