Telluride Vs. Citymarket Market… Farmers Market Wins!

Gotta Love the Farmer’s Market!

When it comes to food, nothing beats farm-fresh veggies and meat. Sure, Clark’s and the Village Market have box canyon residents pretty much covered with regards to stocking up the fridge (as well as the occasional City Market, Montrose run), but when it comes to the summer farmer’s market, they don’t stand a chance.

Located on South Oak Street, right next to the gondola, the Friday farmer’s market is by far the best place to pick up local, organic spinach, carrots and buffalo sirloins, as well as an awesome spot to spend a sunny day in town. Besides, with all of the Indian food, pastries, ice cream and occasional live music, it’s easy to lose track of time while shopping for grass-fed beef fillets and sampling aged cheeses.

Of course, the market can only operate during the summer, since the idea of produce shopping outside, during a blizzard, is far from appealing. Luckily, a number of participating farms offer CSA programs (Community Supported Agriculture) in the winter, allowing locals to enjoy those farm fresh items year round. Heck, they’ll even deliver a crate of veggies right to your door.

So, if you have yet to stop by the farmer’s market, you’re missing out. It’s one of the highlights of Telluride summers.
