3rd Annual Frisco Brewski

Nordic skiing is just plain fun on its own, but when you add some beer and costumes well, that just makes it Awesome! Let the Town of Frisco introduce you to some Awesome! On Saturday, March 10, 2018, the Town of Frisco will present the 3rd Annual Frisco BrewSki, a happy hour ski tour at the Frisco Nordic Center. This family-friendly event is for all ski abilities and ages, and costumes are encouraged (maybe even a little bit required). Beer stations will feature the latest brews from Outer Range Brewing Co., Dillon Dam Brewery, Breckenridge Brewery and Upslope Brewing Company.
The skiing portion of the event will be from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. starting at the Frisco Nordic Center and heading onto the groomed and scenic terrain available at the Nordic Center. The after party from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Frisco Nordic Center will wrap up the day with libations and prizes for best costumes.
BrewSki is not a race, but instead it is a chance to form a team with friends and family, don costumes and enjoy a fun ski tour through the woods with an occasional stop for beverages and snacks. There will be no professional timing, and prizes will be for best costume, toughest costume to ski in and more. In general, competitiveness will be discouraged except when it comes to costumes and fun.

“The costumes seem to get better each year. Last year, we had kiddos who were bees and their parents were beekeepers, and a group of 4 women skied to each beverage station with all of them in a raft. This event really brings home the idea that anyone can really start Nordic skiing at any age… even in a big bird costume. We want this sport to be accessible and fun, and the craft beverage stops don’t hurt either,” stated Sara Skinner, Town of Frisco Recreation Programs Coordinator.
Classic cross-country or skate skis are recommended for this event, but participants may also use AT equipment. The terrain at the Frisco Nordic Center varies from flat trails to decent-sized hills, and participants will be able to choose their own adventure. There is no designated course and the only legitimate destination is fun, but participants will be provided with a map and a suggested route to best take advantage of beer/non-alcoholic beverage sampling and snack stations. This event is designed to accommodate participants of all skill levels and ages. Discounted rental skis for this event will be available for pick up starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Frisco Nordic Center. Skis will be rented on a first-come, first-served basis with limited supplies available.
Advance registration is $30 per adult and $20 for youth 20 years old and younger. Day-of registration will be $35 per adult and $25 for youth 20 years old and younger and will be available at the Frisco Nordic Center starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Participants must register as a team of 2-4 people, and participants should be ready to provide a team name when registering. The first 250 registered participants will receive a commemorative gift. There will also be prizes for costumes. Online registration is available at FriscoBrewSki.com or by calling 970-668-2558.
The Frisco BrewSki is sponsored by the Town of Frisco, Outer Range Brewing Co., Dillon Dam Brewery, Breckenridge Brewery, Upslope Brewing Company, the Frisco Nordic Center, the United States Forest Service and the Summit Daily News. A portion of the proceeds will go to Friends of the Dillon Ranger District who will be helping to judge the costume contest. You get to do good and have fun? Yes! Head to Frisco this weekend!
