Have you been to Leadville? This high altitude city on a hill is a treasure waiting to be explored. Beautiful architecture, terrific restaurants, shop and the classic Delaware Hotel all will keep you captivated and entertained. Fall is especially good time to travel to the area as the leaves are peaking and the drive, needless to say is beautiful.
There are many lodging opportunities but the Delaware Hotel is a beautiful piece of history with lovely rooms, fine dining and the opportunity to participate in many of their educational tours. This weekend the hotel is offering to both lodging guests and area visitors a unique tour of the Evergreen Cemetery, a large beautiful cemetery that dates back to the early 1800’s. Local historians will guide you through the area giving you a peek into the lives of those who are named and those who are not.
Step back into time in the main lobby where beautiful antiques are also available for sale.
The Tabor Opera House is still in operation and just wrapped up a summer season of performances.
Antiques and Victorian architecture paint the streetscapes. Mountain hiking, biking and river rafting are at your back door. Mining, railroading and museum touring are headline attractions. Scenic byways transplant city boulevards
Outdoor adventure blends naturally with Victorian Afternoon Tea and you can escape the madcap world and relax in Victorian surroundings. Try Leadville for the weekend!
