The Town of Silverthorne is honoring and celebrating Dia de los Muertos and the vibrant Latine community living in Summit County at November First Friday. In partnership with local community members, a Dia de los Muertos celebration will be held on Friday, Nov. 1 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This fun and educational event has been created to promote understanding and cultural diversity within our community. Dia de los Muertos is a time when both the living and deceased come together and celebrate life in every form. This is not a somber holiday, but one of revelry and remembrance. 
During First Friday, attendees can enjoy face painting, live music and dancing, traditional food and drinks, crafts for kids, and a pinata.

BVSC Turkey Trot 5K & Family Fun Run, Buena Vista
5K:  Come & shake your tail feather with us on Thanksgiving day with a fun, family-friendly 5k around Buena Vista.
You’ll enjoy a mostly flat course with well-maintained trails, offering great views of the Collegiate Peaks and the Arkansas River.
This run is stroller friendly! There may be a few bumpy sections on trail, but overall it’s very smooth. Littles who ride along in strollers need not register. ​

The Annual “Catch the Glow” Parade will brighten Estes Park at 5:30 PM, the day after Thanksgiving. Each year as many as 20,000 people line Elkhorn Avenue to “Catch the Glow” of this whimsical holiday parade, as well as spend the afternoon visiting Santa and strolling through downtown Estes Park. The parade features more than 40 units, including hand crafted floats from the Town of Estes Park and nonprofits, marching bands, fire trucks and other specialty vehicles.

Celebrate Thanksgiving weekend and the lighting of Christmas Mountain in Salida with a 5 mile and 1 mile race!  The 5 mile course begins and ends by Riverside Park in downtown Salida. Race course is very scenic and mostly flat (around 160 feet of elevation gain) and takes place on city and county roads and gravel or concrete pedestrian paths. This event is designed for all runners, and we encourage all ages and abilities to come out!  Packet pickup, post race drinks and snacks, and awards will also take place in Riverside Park in downtown Salida.  Custom race socks will be included with this year’s 5 mile race registration.
