Dining in Colorado – Great Eats and Après in Colorado’s Mountain Towns
Dining in Colorado is an adventure in Colorado’s Mountain Town Communities, here is a round-up of fantastic spots to Eat & Après.
Back in 1990 when I moved here the food scene was scarce. There were a few notable places available for Fine Dining but beyond that not much. This past year the MICHELIN GUIDE arrived in Colorado and our state couldn’t be prouder. Michelin published its first North American Guide in 2005 for New York. Michelin Guides now cover the Food and Beverage industry in Washington D.C, Chicago, California, Miami/Orlando/Tampa – Florida, Colorado, Toronto, and Vancouver. We are among the sixth in the United States to have obtained that honor.
Comprising over 12,400 eating and drinking establishments, the hospitality industry is vital to Colorado’s economic health and prosperity. With the pandemic came the loss of diners and staff. Independently owned and operated businesses account for 69% of Colorado’s restaurants, making them an integral part of the local culture. Restaurants are a driving force in our mountain town communities and are sought out as part of the mountain town experience.
Bosq in Aspen earned One-MICHELIN-Star honor and is a nod to how exceptional the food scene is now. Colorado received 30 MICHELIN Recommended restaurants. Eight of those restaurants are found in our mountain town communities and are listed below:
Element 47 (Aspen)
Mawa’s Kitchen (Aspen)
Mirabelle (Beaver Creek)
Osaki’s (Vail)
Prospect (Aspen)
Splendido at the Chateau (Beaver Creek)
Wyld (Beaver Creek)
Sweet Basil (Vail)
You can find some outstanding meals in our mountain towns and Issue 39 is a nod to those working hard preparing, cooking, and serving great food to fuel and refuel all our adventures.
The bounty of Colorado can be found plated up and served in every Colorado Mountain Town community and we are proud to present several great establishments to sit down and fuel up, relax, and imbibe.
From Steamboat Springs to Salida, Durango Telluride, and back down to Golden here are a few of the many GREAT restaurants serving exceptional cuisine at Altitude with flavor, taste, and fabulous service.
Get ready to make reservations, you’re going to be hungry.
