Copper Mountain Resort announces Pete Woods Vice President of Mountain Sports

Copper Mountain Resort announced today the promotion of Pete Woods to the newly created role of Vice President of Mountain Sports. Previously Pete was Director of Marketing for Copper. “The development of the Mountain Sports division, uniting the action sports business Woodward at Copper, the Copper Mountain Ski and Ride school, Woodward Terrain Parks and the Competition department under common leadership marks Copper’s commitment to a fully integrated mountain experience for our guests,” stated Gary Rodgers, President and General Manager of Copper Mountain Resort.

Under Pete’s creative guidance, Copper has launched several financially successful, brand-developing industry firsts, including the Pow Pow PlatterPowder to the PillowThe Swingers Pass and The Snow Day Pass. One industry publication even called the Snow Day Pass ‘the best ski deal ever’. Pete explains, “As a challenger brand in the most competitive ski market on the planet, Copper is playfully irreverent without losing site of the bottom line. We will always have to take more risks and make it more fun, or we will get lost in the shadows.” Throughout his career, and during his 5 year Copper tenure, Pete has set a new standard for resort marketing. His innovative work has led to several industry awards, including National Ski Area Association (NSAA) Best Overall Marketing Campaign, NSAA Most Innovative Non-Ski Event, and multi-season best marketing accolades in Ski Area Management.

The merger of Copper Ski and Ride school and Woodward at Copper, uniquely positions the already-impressive youth and action sports programming at Copper. Expect some new mountain and village elements this season inspired by the progression model that Woodward at Copper has so successfully cultivated for action sports. Whether in Woodward at Copper camps, or Copper’s Ski and Ride School programs, guests can rely on Copper’s continuing commitment to learning progression, safety and fun at all ability levels, ages and interests. Working with Coppers Competitions team, Pete will further enhance Copper’s role as the partner of choice for training and on mountain winter/summer events. Copper Mountain’s partnership with the US Ski Team speed center and premier early season 22′ superpipe, further solidifies Copper’s position as consistently providing the best early season conditions in North America.

Congrats to Pete! Now let’s start thinking snow, it is August 1st you know.
