Colorado Mountain Towns are Psyched! SNOW

Finally some snow, the ski area conditions have not been too shabby considering our minimal snow fall. Yesterday Ullr graced us with an impressive snow storm leaving double digit snow totals at many resorts. The Central and Southwest mountains witnessed the bulk of the storm with Silverton Mountain as the major benefactor reaping 19 inches, and Wolf Creek 18 inches, both in a 48 hour period.

During the same 48 hours, seventeen inches fell at Snowmass, 16 inches at Buttermilk, 15 inches came down at Crested Butte Mountain Resort and 14 inches covered Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Sunlight Mountain Resort.

Some sweet powder runs in Telluride

Just about a foot of snow fell at Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort and Steamboat Resort, with both resorts reporting 11 inches in the last 48 hours. Telluride is enjoying 10 inches of new snow, Winter Park-seven-and-a-half and Monarch a solid seven.

Front Range resorts also benefited from the storm with Ski Cooper and Eldora collecting five inches, Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin totaling four.

The storm left new snow at SolVista Basin, Loveland Ski Area, Powderhorn and Echo Mountain as well, anywhere from three-and-a-half to two inches.

Resorts are recognizing Safety Week this week with activities and promotions to raise awareness about being safe on the slopes. And resorts continue to offer deals for beginners and advanced skiers and riders for January Learn to Ski and Snowboard month.

More snow is expected in Colorado later this week. If you have not read Dan Moroz’s weather then be sure to check it out on our home page. Meanwhile, skiers and snowboarders are able to take advantage of quintessential Colorado blue bird skies and deep powder conditions.

P.S. Please note: Aspen Snowmass say to Call in sick! This is your ‘official note’ to take off work and go ski or ride tomorrow as the conditions will be stellar!
