Winter Park is perpetually turning out some of the best events around. This spring there is a plethora of fun in the works especially with a later April closing. Here is the list. What are you waiting for?

March 6-9
IPC World Cup

Winter Park Resort is proud to be the host site for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Cup. Over 100 athletes representing more than ten countries will take to the slopes as the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Cup comes to Winter Park Resort March 6-9, 2012. March 9-10
Invest In Kids
Ride the bumps, slide on the snow, bring your friends and raise some dough at the 13th Annual Jane-a-Thon!  This ski-a-thon fundraiser held annually at Mary Jane in Winter Park raises money to bring Invest in Kids’ proven programs to communities across Colorado.  Participants collect pledges per run/vertical feet completed and enjoy a great day of fun and fundraising on the slopes.

Friday, March 9th is Corporate Team Day and Saturday, March 10 is Friends and Family Day (children included!).  In addition to skiing and riding, each day features an après ski party where team and individual prizes are awarded for fundraising, vertical feet, and fastest speed.  For more information, please contact Karen Niebrugge at 303.839.1808 x.108.

 

March 16, 2012
St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
Join us for some toe-tappin’, hand-clappin’, good drinkin’, “gotta get up and dance” renditions of traditional and original Irish tunes! This event features Irish music, step dancers, and beverages in the Private Lesson Center Plaza in the Village.

 

March 22-25
The Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships

The Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships and the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships will be combined to create The Championships presented by Nature Valley at Winter Park Resort, March 22-25.

NASTAR and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) have joined forces to bring recreational racers and U.S. Ski Team members together for a ski racing festival that will celebrate the sport of alpine racing. The ten day celebration will include the Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships, the Return of the Champions Family Challenge team race and U.S. Ski Team reunion, the U.S. Ski Team Pro-Am Team Competition and the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships.

 

March 26
The Return of the Champions Family Challenge and U.S Ski Team Reunion
The Return of the Champions Family Challenge and U.S. Ski Team reunion is a team race where family members can compete as a team against other family teams. In addition, the event is designed as a U.S. Ski Team reunion so that alumni can bring their kids and their parents to the event and compete with their families. Teams must have a minimum of three family members and each team member will score points for their team within their age and gender group. Family Teams do not need to qualify for the race but pre-register is required as space is limited.

 

March 27, 2012
The U.S. Ski Team Pro-Am
A team event where race league teams and teams of friends from across the country can compete for a National Championship team title. To add to the excitement, each team will add a U.S. Ski Team athlete to their roster. Team captains will select their U.S. Ski Team athlete the night before the race at a welcome reception. Each team member will score points for their team based on the best handicap they earn in their age group. Each team must have a minimum of six team members.

 

March 28 – April 1
The Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships

The Championships are designed to rally American alpine racers and the industry around one event. Recreational racers and fans of the sport will have the opportunity to meet, race and compete with current and former U.S. Ski Team athletes. There will be live music, Warren Miller film screenings, parties, sponsor demos, race video and more. The Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships will include Men’s & Women’s slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G. Don’t miss the action!

SO-GNAR Mighty Midwest Tour Finals

This is the last stop on the tour for this season.  This is where the best Pro & Am’s throughout the season come and pull out all their tricks.

 

April 6-7
Rocky Mountain Freestyle

Come join the fun as top skiers from the Rocky Mountain Division compete in this fun yet extremely competitive mogul and dual mogul competition. Saturday is the moguls competition and Sunday is the fast-paced dual mogul competition that features skiers head to head on the challenging Ambush mogul course visible from the Derailer deck and base. April 08
Golden Bunny Classic Candy Hunt and Fun Race

Winter Park Willie and the Easter Bunny deliver holiday fun with an on-mountain candy hunt in Discovery Park as well as a base area egg hunt for children under 5. April 22
COCA-COLA® Spring Splash, Last Day of the Season

Winter Park Resort’s Coca-Cola® Spring Splash is the oldest tradition of its kind and on its 44th year. Athletes begin at noon as spectators watch skiers and riders struggle through obstacles on the Larry Sale trail race course and attempt to skim across an icy pond to reach the finish line and post a time.
