Telluride Fire Festival 2015 Ready to Blaze

The Telluride Fire Festival is an interactive community celebration of performance fire arts including displays and workshops with performers and sculptural artists. The aim of the festival is to create an interactive fire art experience on Colorado Avenue (Main Street, Telluride) and the plazas of Mountain Village. Twenty-five-foot-tall, fire-breathing “art cars,” artistic burn barrels and other huge, moving, fire-emitting art installations will line public spaces, and fire eaters and performers will dance down the streets.

The festival is also collaborating with the local arts community including Telluride Arts, Ah Haa School for the Arts, and Deep Creek Experimental. Ah Haa School for the Arts is planning to present a photography workshop to teach people how best to capture fire art at night on film. The school is also creating a weekend creative fire cauldron workshop.

Confirmed and contributing sculptural artists include Jamie Vaida, Michael Christian, Anton-Viditz-Ward, and Grand Junction, CO, metal sculpture artist Alvin Sessions will be there showcasing their work and presenting talks about their artwork.

Local businesses will use their creativity and will be offering everything from fire-themed art exhibits at local galleries, flaming food on the weekend’s menus and fire-themed book signings. Make plans to visit Telluride January 15 – 19th to catch what will be a highlight of your winter season.

Outside The Mine: You’ll be transfixed by expert fire dancers, fiery art installations, rockin’ dance music, and a few other surprises… we

don’t want to let you know it all in advance and spoil our super secret surprises. Prepare to be wowed.

Transportation: Free shuttle starts at 8:45pm. Meet at the courthouse on Main Street.

About the Mine: Artist, Anton Viditz-Ward— along with his nonprofit group Deep Creek Experimental (DCE)— utilizes this abandoned mine several miles outside of Telluride as a studio and starkly minimalist backdrop for creating

and showcasing his spectacular, fiery creations. We have reimag-ined this spectacular setting with sumptuous decor, drapery, unique lighting and more. The Gala is a fundraiser for (DCE) and the Telluride Fire Festival, both nonprofit organizations. Attire & More: Warm and outra-geous costumery and winter foot-wear. Learn how use skills you already have in order to pinpoint changes you’d like and then how to use fire to release them as well as to bring in new energies. This is an introduction to the Sacred Art of Fire Burning Rituals.
  • Free interactive fire art, fire art cars & fire dancing at Mixed Locations- See notes 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Fire art installations, flaming art cars and fire performers—Mountain Village Plaza and Main Street. Free to all!
  • Gala Event & Fundraiser at The Mine 9:00 pm to 9:05 pm This is a 6 hour event ending at 3am on Sunday.
