1. Decking
Given Breck’s propensity for warm spring days and skies so blue they seem Photoshopped, we suggest après-ing outdoors, with sunscreen of course. Pick anything on the menu at Fatty’s and settle in with the local crowd to watch the sun set behind the Tenmile Range. Two deck picks for the south end of town include Quandary Grille (closest to the slopes) and Burke and Riley’s (sit by the fire pits). Or, hit Kenosha early – grab a spot in the sun, go for happy hour $1 PBRs with sweet potato tots, and get after a game of horseshoes. Sounds pretty perfect, huh? Check out the link under #2 for slopeside specials.
2. A night out under $20 (and other locals’ specials)
There’s no secret handshake to get the best bar and restaurant specials in Breckenridge. It’s all about knowing where to go, and when. Two slices plus a soda at Giam’s ($5.50) + evening $2 drafts at the Gold Pan? Or maybe you prefer $3 happy hour wines at Modis + late night apps at Twist? The folks at the Breckenridge Restaurant Association compiled Breck’s best après, happy hour, dinner and late night spring specials around. Check it out, print it out, save it to your phone and keep the evenings affordable. Get the details at Facebook.com/GoBreck.
3. Know your alcohol
Most mass-market beers have an alcohol content around or at 5%. Delicious craft brews (such as the Breckenridge Brewery’s 471 Double IPA) can be 9% and above. Beer sold at grocery stores in Breckenridge has 3.2% alcohol by volume. Enjoy responsibly.
Thanks to a walk-able downtown and free buses, cars aren’t necessary on spring break in Breckenridge.
4. Ditch the car
If you drove to Breckenridge, keep the vehicle at your residence. Downtown is walkable, free buses circle the town, more free buses circle the county, street parking is limited and many properties offer free shuttles. ‘Nuff said.
5. Take your clothes off
When heading into town for the evening, please take the time to change your ski and ride wear, specifically the to read more click here
