Wolf Creek Ski Area Opening for 2016-17 Season
Wolf Creek Ski Area was praying for that Thanksgiving storm that would bring an end to the unseasonable warm weather and start the 2016 – 2017 season in the Southern San Juan Mountains. Prayers were answered with a great high moisture content storm of 16 inches that blanketed the slopes on November 22nd, just in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Wolf Creek Ski Area opens Thursday, November 24th, seven days a week for the 2016-2017 ski season!
Fifty percent of the mountain will open with the Raven, Bonanza, Nova, Treasure Stoke and Elma lifts operating from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM; Alberta Lift opens on Saturday along with more challenging terrain.
Conditions are powder, packed powder with early season obstacles. The groomed runs are awesome; the hike-to terrain is challenging – bring your rock skis!
Lift tickets will be at the Local Appreciation Rate of $44 for adults, $27 for seniors and $24 for children. The Nova Lift Only is $27 for all ages.
The Ski School will be offered to both adults and children, including the Wolf Pup Program. The ski and snowboard rentals will be available, along with Treasure Sports. The Wolf Creek Lodge will be serving Cornish Game Hen for Thanksgiving along with many other delicious items. On Saturday, Prospector Grill will open along with the Base Camp. Lift ticket prices will be move to regular rates after the holidays.
