Original Thinkers returns to Telluride for it’s 7th Year with Art, Film, Experiences, Conversations, Friendships and Ideas
Last October 2023 I attended the most unique festival in Telluride, Original Thinkers. The event was brimming with ideas, thoughts, art and interactive experiences. The 6th Annual Original Thinkers Festival in Telluride immersed me in fresh perspectives and participatory gatherings that don’t exist in the lineup of most mainstream events. Presentations from political leaders, journalists, filmmakers, health practitioners, musicians, healers, and more opened my mind and introduced the audience to new and alternative ways of thinking while confronting the complexities and challenges of our ever-changing world.
Each year this festival brings ideas, stories and community together. There were fun and smart gatherings that included guided DJ-led sound journeys from Zendo Stereo, film presentations, hikes, a women’s circle, the Climate Cafe, Original Drinkers cocktail hours, communal meals, an introduction to a new and unique meditative technology called Shiftwave, lots of conversation and many other unexpected cerebral stimuli.
The Seventh year of Original Thinkers has been announced and will be held on October 3 – 6, 2024 in Telluride based out of the Sheridan Opera House and spread out throughout the Town of Telluride. OT will continue its curation of creative, fresh, and contemplative programming while shining a spotlight on a host of new voices, artists, thinkers, storytellers, health practitioners, and visionaries. With changing times and attitudes, Founder David Holbrooke continues to evolve the presentations of the festival’s offerings. He invites audiences to join him on a transformative journey to listen, think deeply, see possibility, and embrace new ideas.
“The festival will open Thursday afternoon with some of our gentle, welcoming OT activities and then, there will be a full festival gathering that evening. Friday will feature an array of talks and get-togethers and there will be films and speakers that afternoon and evening at the Sheridan Opera House. Saturday has a sweet mix of opportunities to hear our guests cover a range of issues that will help us process these crazy days. Again, a strong lineup of documentaries intertwined with speakers that night. Sunday will have a closing program in the morning and then many of you will take off for home, filled with the big ideas that emanated from the weekend, says David Holbrooke.”
This festival is a work of art. I experienced beauty through each presenter’s lens of ideas and walked away at the end of this gathering astounded by how one’s mind, body, and spirit can be opened up by a community of people willing to share new ideas and possibilities together.
I look forward to the brilliant concoction of events this year’s OT will bring.
