At Loveland Ski Area, you’ll have the chance to test the newest women’s skis — back-to-back, in real conditions — without the pressure or chaos of a typical demo. It’s more than a gear test. It’s a supportive, fun, and refreshingly different way to discover skis that actually work for you. From confident cruisers to adventurous powder seekers, women of all levels will find something that elevates their day on the hill.

Vail Mountain Winter Uphill Race, Vail
This event honors the memory of Vail local, Lyndon Ellefson, who was instrumental in starting the U.S. Men’s Mountain Running Program, with some of the entry fees supporting the U.S. Mountain Running Team.
For the past nineteen years, the Vail Mountain Winter Uphill has proven to be a challenging midwinter competition for some, and a fun, non-competitive community hike for others. It presents an opportunity to support a worthy organization, while also paying tribute to Ellefson, a trailblazer in the sport of mountain running who lost his life in 1998, due to an accident near the Matterhorn while training for a mountain race in Italy. Ellefson was the foreman for the Lionshead Gondolda, the same gondola the race begins and finishes next to. Ellen Miller, along with fellow mountain runner and Vail local, Hooker Lowe, started the race in 2008 to spread their passion for mountain running and uphill skiing (skinning) and to pay homage to Ellefson.

Wild Perspectives, launched in January 2020, provides an opportunity for community-building and story-telling, brought to you by ACES in partnership with The Collective. Join us for an evening with Maz Krogh and Carly Valerious, some of the first women to complete the Elks Traverse. This route is approximately 50 miles and connects the 7 fourteeners in the Elk Mountain Range. They’ll share stories and photos from the trail and reflections from their experience on the Traverse. Maz is a ski instructor, physical therapist, and climate advocate, originally from Aotearoa New Zealand. She prefers snowy mountain adventures but has recently discovered that mountains without snow on them are pretty fun too. Carly works in land stewardship and outdoor education, with passion for connecting with the natural world, and the people who inhabit it. She grew up running with her mom in the Midwest, and later discovered the world of trail and ridge running with her sister in the Wasatch Range. Carly graduated from Colorado College with a degree in Environmental Science. She enjoys printmaking, mountain biking, splitboarding, and exploring the backcountry in all seasons.

Ninety-Pound Rucksack Challenge, Arapahoe Basin
A-Basin is proud to host the Ninety-Pound Rucksack Challenge which returns on February 18, 2026, inviting participants nationwide to commemorate the legacy of the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division. This year marks the 81st anniversary of the Division’s mission in the Apennine Mountains.
Hosted in partnership with the National Ski Patrol, 10th Mountain Division Foundation, 10th Mountain Alpine Club, 10th Mountain Division Descendants, and Uphill Athlete, this annual ski mountaineering event celebrates the historic World War II ascent of Italy’s Riva Ridge and the post-war contributions of the 10th Mountain Division to American skiing.
On the evening of February 18 at 7 p.m. local time, participants will ascend ski slopes or backcountry routes, mirroring the 10th Mountain Division soldiers’ nighttime climb up Riva Ridge in 1945. At A-Basin, participants will climb from the base area to the summit on our regular uphill route.

Racers will have the chance to race the course multiple times and racers will not be timed, but instead racers will be given three (3) pieces of bubble gum. Each piece of bubble gum acts as a “ticket” to race. Racers will give it to the person at the start of the course to race, and if they win, they will get a piece of bubble gum.

Ninety Pound Rucksack Challenge, Steamboat Ski Resort
The Rucksack Challenge event will take place on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the anniversary of the ascent of Riva Ridge beginning at 5:30 p.m. Participants will climb the slopes of Steamboat Resort under the stars, inspired by the historic 1945 nighttime mission to break the Gothic line in Italy and win WWII. This accomplishment forever linked the 10th Mountain Division to the mountains they loved and the sport they helped pioneer.
To honor that legacy, racers can choose between two divisions: The Rucksack Division, carrying a 90-pound weighted pack, symbolizing the load soldiers carried in battle; or the Light Division, for participants who wish to climb without additional weight but share equally in the spirit of remembrance. Spectators, families, and community members are invited to gather at the base of the resort to cheer on participants and take part in the evening celebration featuring a color guard ceremony, hot chocolate, and an awards reception to honor participants, veterans, and active military alike.

19th Annual Fire Hose Relay, Arapahoe Basin
The Burn Camps Program, established in 1983, addresses the psychological and rehabilitation needs of children and families following burn injuries. After a burn injury, children often face extensive reconstructive surgeries and ongoing physical and occupational therapy. The Burn Camps Program has evolved into a series of camp programs that provide challenging activities and foster lasting friendships and mentorships, helping children thrive beyond their injuries.
One of the most exciting events supporting this program is the Fire Hose Race. This unique race features over 30 teams of five skiers, each spaced along a 50-foot fire hose. Teams work together to navigate a 15-gate giant slalom course while carrying the hose. Adding to the challenge, every team member must wear a bunker coat and a fire helmet. Teams may consist of skiers, snowboarders, or a mix of both. Each team completes two runs, and the fastest single run time wins the event. The victorious team is awarded the coveted traveling Fire Hose Race Trophy to display until the next year’s competition.
This thrilling event directly supports the Burn Camps Program. With every $1,650 raised, 100% of the cost is covered for one child to attend a week-long summer camp. These camps are life-changing experiences that empower children to regain confidence, connect with peers who have shared similar experiences, and embrace new challenges in a supportive environment.
Join us in making a difference—support the Fire Hose Race and help send kids to camp!

TAB Fashion Show, Telluride
The TAB Annual Fashion Show is a show as unique as Telluride itself. It is not your average fashion show — the event has been called a “Broadway Pop-Up” and “Cirque du Soleil meets NY Fashion Week.” TAB has become the premiere event of the Telluride winter season. The fashion show is a chic, lighthearted and fun event that fights for a very serious cause, yet it has matured into a production that rivals those seen during Fashion Week in New York City. TAB’s current creative team are direct from Broadway, bringing a level of professionalism that inspires the entire community. TAB Fashion Shows raise awareness around HIV which includes the history of the disease, its effects in marginalized populations in Colorado, the lack of quality education, and related apathy and stigma that exist.

Southwest Freestyle is a Freestyle skiing competition series based in Southwest Colorado that is centered around youth development and inclusivity. The series works in conjunction with Durango Winter Sports Club and Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club as well as various sponsors and donors.
On Friday, February 28th, the slopestyle competition will kick off!
What does the slopestyle competition involve?
Taking place in a terrain park the course will consist of one or two rail/box features and two or three small-medium size park jumps. Athletes will receive a score based on difficulty, variety, style, technique and creativity.
On Saturday, March 1st, the moguls competition will kick off!
What does the moguls competition involve?
Taking place on a moderately steep slope that is 120-180 m long the course consists of well developed moguls and 1-2 airs. Athletes will receive a score based on their technique, control and fluidity in the moguls as well as their execution, difficulty and style on the air. Being able to seamlessly transition from the air back into the moguls is key to a good score. We recommend athletes take part in a skillsquest event before taking on a moguls event.

Uncle Clyde’s Run and Slide, Purgatory Resort
MOST LAPS WINS!…OH, AND IT’S A RELAY RACE!
The beauty of Uncle Clyde’s Run & Slide is in its simplicity. Teams complete as many up-down relay laps as they can on Purgatory’s tubing hill in 90 minutes. It sounds ridiculous, possibly strenuous and undoubtedly fun.
Team up with your best buddy for this tag-team style race. We will have male, female, and coed divisions for adult teams, as well as race categories for kids and parent/child teams. Teams must consist of two people in order to compete, but we will also allow three-person teams (like mom plus two kids) if you are just out for fun, not prizes and glory.

A handcrafted five-course dining experience at 9,000 feet.
Back by popular demand! Enjoy this rare opportunity for spectacular views and a unique mountaintop culinary experience by booking a Snowcat Dinner Excursion. Guests will enjoy views of the alpenglow over the Needles Mountains from an enclosed snowcat as it ascends the trails on the way to a five-course meal. The only guests in the restaurant will be those who arrive by snowcat, providing an intimate and exciting feel — plus our Executive Chef will create entrees that are sure to impress even the most decadent diners.
The dinner begins with mulled wine or champagne while guests are allowed time to socialize and select their seats. Guests will then savor a sophisticated five-course tasting menu, complete with beverage pairings from our wine or beer partners.
