Southwest Freestyle Moguls and Slopestyle Competition, Purgatory Resort
This winter Southwest Freestyle will be hosting two freestyle competitions at Purgatory Resort!
What is Southwest Freestyle?
Southwest Freestyle is a Freestyle skiing competition series based in Southwest Colorado that is centered around youth development and inclusivity. The series works in conjunction with Durango Winter Sports Club and Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club as well as various sponsors and donors.
On Friday, February 28th, the slopestyle competition will kick off!
What does the slopestyle competition involve?
Taking place in a terrain park the course will consist of one or two rail/box features and two or three small-medium size park jumps. Athletes will receive a score based on difficulty, variety, style, technique and creativity.
On Saturday, March 1st, the moguls competition will kick off!
What does the moguls competition involve?
Taking place on a moderately steep slope that is 120-180 m long the course consists of well developed moguls and 1-2 airs. Athletes will receive a score based on their technique, control and fluidity in the moguls as well as their execution, difficulty and style on the air. Being able to seamlessly transition from the air back into the moguls is key to a good score. We recommend athletes take part in a skillsquest event before taking on a moguls event.

Full Moon Dinner at Cliffhouse, Aspen/Snowmass
Loved by locals and enjoyed by all, the Full Moon Dinners at Cliffhouse invites lunar lovers to skin or hike up the Main route on Buttermilk for a monthly meal beneath an illuminated winter sky.
Head up the hill early and sample cocktails from On The Rocks and enjoy a cash bar when Cliffhouse opens at 5pm. From 5:30 until 8pm, á la carte dinner options—including the flavor-packed Mongolian Grill—will be served.
Attendees are encouraged to travel with a light and to watch for wildlife. Please be safe while descending the mountain, and leave your dogs at home, they are not allowed on Buttermilk Mountain on the nights of this event. Please note, no parking is allowed on Tiehack Road or West Buttermilk Road.
Uphill passes and straps are required for all uphill travelers on Buttermilk for these evenings and can be purchased for $69, which is valid for the whole season. Pick up at Tiehack and Main Buttermilk ticket offices from 4:30 until 6:30pm the day of the event. We encourage guests to pick up passes ahead of time at any ticket office.

The Ski Trooper Cup is a multi-faceted competition designed to test a wide range of physical and tactical skills. ACES Wild Perspectives | Science on Skis: Traversing the Juneau Ice Field, Carbondale
Wild Perspectives, launched in January 2020, provides an opportunity for community-building and story-telling, brought to you by ACES in partnership with The Collective. Science on Skis: Traversing the Juneau Icefield is about Izzo’s experience as a student with the Juneau Icefield Research Program (JIRP). Since 1946, JIRP has facilitated two months of immersive, hands-on glaciology research across the Icefield. Izzo will share about glaciological field methods, camp life and logistics, and hopefully answer the question: why study glaciers in a warming climate? Izzo Steenrod is a Naturalist at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) and lives at Toklat in the Castle Creek Valley. She studied geology at Colorado College and finds endless inspiration in the outdoors. Her passions for skiing, outdoor education, adventure, and earth science all combined during a summer spent on the Juneau Icefield.

Bubble Gum Ski Race Series, Frisco
Enjoy some friendly competition among kids at the 12th Annual Bubble Gum Race Series on six Wednesdays in February and March at the Frisco Adventure Park and presented by Team Summit.
From the “never ever” to seasoned racer, all levels are encouraged to compete in this free non-competitive, community race series; this is an ideal race series for kids who are eight and younger.
Racers will have the chance to race the course multiple times and racers will not be timed, but instead racers will be given three (3) pieces of bubble gum. Each piece of bubble gum acts as a “ticket” to race. Racers will give it to the person at the start of the course to race, and if they win, they will get a piece of bubble gum.

SKIMO: Ski Mountaineering racing is a human-powered endurance competition that involves climbing mountains on ski/splitboard, and passing through a series of acents & descents

Whiskey Warm Up, Estes Park
Whiskey Warm Up, presented by Elkins Whisky, is all about our homegrown Colorado whiskey. Festival goers will receive a commemorative tasting glass to sample whiskey and other spirits from 20+ distilleries, listen to live music, peruse, and purchase goods from area vendors. 2026 Leadville Ski Joring Weekend, Leadville
Ski Joring is a competition where a horse and rider pull a skier at a fast pace through a course that has gates, jumps and rings. The skier is timed through the course, and penalties are assessed by missing gates or jumps, and by missing or dropping the baton or any of the rings. The competitors race for cash prizes and teams are made up by a random draw before the start.
The Leadville Ski Joring event has been going on in Leadville since 1949, and is one of the premier events of its kind in the country.
Ski Joring is always the first Saturday and Sunday in March.

Fun Race, Wolf Creek Ski Area
Fun Races are open to skiers and boarders of all ages and ability levels. The course is a modified giant slalom with a dual race format – one red course and one blue course. Racers take one run on each course, with the fastest time used to qualify in the appropriate bracket. There are 14 age brackets (ages 3 to 70+) for boys and girls, men and women. Bronze, Silver and Gold medals are awarded to each bracket.

Bubble Gum Ski Race Series, Frisco
Enjoy some friendly competition among kids at the 12th Annual Bubble Gum Race Series on six Wednesdays in February and March at the Frisco Adventure Park and presented by Team Summit.
From the “never ever” to seasoned racer, all levels are encouraged to compete in this free non-competitive, community race series; this is an ideal race series for kids who are eight and younger.
Racers will have the chance to race the course multiple times and racers will not be timed, but instead racers will be given three (3) pieces of bubble gum. Each piece of bubble gum acts as a “ticket” to race. Racers will give it to the person at the start of the course to race, and if they win, they will get a piece of bubble gum.

The Skidola is an open-registration, on-snow uphill race from the town of Telluride to the San Sophia Ridge. Racers can compete using microspikes, snowshoes, skis, or splitboards. This is a family-friendly race, welcoming both competitive racers and those who just want to have fun!

The Shamrock Shuffle Snowshoe Race, Vail
The Annual Vail Recreation District Krueger Family Shamrock Shuffle 5K and 10K races and the kids’ 1K fun run will celebrate all things green in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day!

Bubble Gum Ski Race Series, Frisco
Enjoy some friendly competition among kids at the 12th Annual Bubble Gum Race Series on six Wednesdays in February and March at the Frisco Adventure Park and presented by Team Summit.
From the “never ever” to seasoned racer, all levels are encouraged to compete in this free non-competitive, community race series; this is an ideal race series for kids who are eight and younger.
Racers will have the chance to race the course multiple times and racers will not be timed, but instead racers will be given three (3) pieces of bubble gum. Each piece of bubble gum acts as a “ticket” to race. Racers will give it to the person at the start of the course to race, and if they win, they will get a piece of bubble gum.

Duke’s Ditch Banked Slalom, Powderhorn Mountain
Come be a part of history! Banked slaloms have a renowned place in the saga of snowboarding—it all began in 1985 with the Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom, the longest-running snowboard competition in North America. This year, Powderhorn is honored to present our second annual Duke’s Ditch Banked Slalom, a new event created to draw our snowboarding community closer together. The Duke’s Ditch Banked Slalom is named in honor of the late, great Duke Taylor, who was instrumental in making snowboarding accessible to the Western Slope. This race course will be built through the cooperative efforts our staff and volunteer racers. Through this event, our shared passion for standing sideways boosts sportsmanship, camaraderie, recognition, and growth for boardin’ culture in Western Colorado. So condition those quads, tune your board, and get ready to drag knuckles… we’re absolutely thrilled by the opportunity to kick off our own banked slalom tradition, Wild West style!
We will also be hosting Vintage Day on Saturday during the Banked Slalom event. Experience snowboard history up close! Over 60 legendary vintage boards will be on display, showcasing the evolution of the sport – from icon graphics to game-changing shape. Pash N Burn, Steamboat Ski Resort
The first Slash and Burn came to life in 2014 with a collaboration between the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and Powder Tools, and now today, it is all grown up and is one of the biggest banked slalom events in the U.S. This event has been bringing together the best in the industry along with the best riders in the world, celebrating the entire snowboard community. Open to any snowboarder with a groms-only (under 18) day on Sunday.
We have changed the name to The Pash & Burn Banked Slalom, an ode to Alex Pashley, one of the founders of the event, and more widely loved Snowboard Industry professionals. We lost Pashley last season in the backcountry while he was out doing what he did best – hyping up riders through encouragement, shit talking, laughs, and his contagious love for snowboarding.
This coming season we are going to be raising money in Pashley’s name to be donated to Routt County Search & Rescue + Teton County Search & Rescue, two organizations that were important to him.

Loveland Scavenger Hunt presented by Fat Tire, Loveland Ski Area
Fat Tire, Chill Foundation and Loveland Ski Area team up to bring back what has easily become one of Loveland’s most popular events, the Loveland Scavenger Hunt presented by Fat Tire! Registration begins at 9AM on the Lower Basin Patio. $10 per person, teams can have 1-4 people. Registration includes a free beer! Wearing costumes will help your team earn points! The competition will start at 10AM sharp, and teams will have until 2:30PM to race around the mountain and hunt down each item on their clue sheet.
Prizes will be awarded for the most points earned and everyone over 21 gets to enjoy delicious New Belgium Beer at the Post-Hunt Celebration from 3-5PM complete with live music. Chill will be running a raffle with a ton of great prizes.
The Scavenger Hunt will raise funds to benefit the Chill Foundation’s mission of inspiring youth through board sports and building a more equitable outdoor community. Come on out for an epic day!

Comedy on the Mountain, Steamboat Ski Resort

Fun Race, Wolf Creek Ski Area
Fun Races are open to skiers and boarders of all ages and ability levels. The course is a modified giant slalom with a dual race format – one red course and one blue course. Racers take one run on each course, with the fastest time used to qualify in the appropriate bracket. There are 14 age brackets (ages 3 to 70+) for boys and girls, men and women. Bronze, Silver and Gold medals are awarded to each bracket.

Wolf Creek’s Ms. Mondays Ski & Snowboard Clinic Series is just for the ladies! Ms. Mondays are a packaged deal with a discounted lift ticket and a two-hour morning lesson – $118 for adults/$99 for seniors. Ladies with ability C and above will have an excellent, qualified female instructor for the morning lesson.

SHIFRUNS for ALS, Vail
Join the 8th annual SHIFRUNS, a 20-run ski/snowboard challenge held annually on Vail Mountain in Colorado, in memory of Brian G. Shifrin. Brian fought his ALS battle for 2.5 years with strength, peace, humor and Billy Joel. SHIFRUNS was created by his sister, Pam Shifrin (a Vail local), in hopes to create ALS awareness and raise money to help with his care.
Every year, participants hit the slopes at their own pace, wherever they choose on Vail Mountain. Steady’s Deck, just west of the top of chair 2(Avanti), is the homebase. Feel free to leave things there, come back to rest, or enjoy complimentary Village Bagel bagels, snacks and drinks! We are proud to tell you that we are 100% run by volunteers and all proceeds from this event go directly to supporting ALS warriors and research.
Following skiing, continue fundraising efforts with an Après party at Cucina.
