Vail Lacrosse Shootout, Vail
The Vail Lacrosse Shootout returns to the beautiful mountain resort of Vail, Colorado every summer over the week of the 4th of July.
As the premiere club tournament in the United States, the Shootout is home to some of the very best lacrosse in the world and will play host to over 65 men’s teams and 40 women’s teams in what has become a pilgrimage for any true lacrosse fan.

Telluride Plein Air, Telluride
The Telluride Plein Air Festival is an essential fundraiser for the Sheridan Arts Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization created to restore and preserve the Sheridan Opera House while bringing quality arts and entertainment to the town of Telluride. Forty percent of the revenue from each plein air art sale goes to the Sheridan Arts Foundation (SAF), supporting community programming at the Sheridan Opera House.
In addition to observing some of the nation’s top plein air artists at work, Telluride Plein Air Festival allows locals and tourists alike enjoy watching our two-hour quick draw competition, followed by the VIP Artist Choice Preview Party featuring each artists’ favorite piece of the week. The festival culminates in a three-day sale, where the artists display the work they created all week long.

Summer Wednesday Art Walks, Vail
Enjoy a free one-hour public art tour of Vail each Wednesday of the month starting July 2nd through August 27th.
The tour winds its way through the Village with discussions of the history of the Vail Valley, the founding of Vail Mountain, the master planning of the Village, and the importance of site-specific art. The Town’s public art collection includes over 70 works ranging from paintings, sculptures, murals, playground components, to site-integrated art.

Annual July 4th Kids Fishing Derby, Salida
This free event for kids 13 and younger is sponsored by the Collegiate Peaks Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Colorado Parks & Wildlife.
Registration begins at Frantz Lake at 8:30 am on July 4th, followed by fishing from 9:45 to 10:45 am. All contestants receive a souvenir derby t-shirt and special prizes will be awarded.
Kids should bring their own fishing gear, water, and sunscreen. Fishing equipment will be provided free to participants without their own gear. A free hot dog lunch and sodas will be provided for contestants and their families.

Race 2 Course: Ramble On / Blue Ribbon; best time of two laps
Racers will be timed by RFID chip start & finish. Categories will include Men’s or Women’s, Amateur, or Junior (15 & under) Division. On the day of the race, please check in at the Powderhorn Bike Shop from 11am – 2:30pm. Pick up your bib number and RFID tag to be placed on the left side of your bike, and receive lift queue times for your division.
All racers need to wear helmets and have a signed Mountain Use waiver to compete. Racer tickets are available at the Bike Shop for $29.
Powderhorn staff will be overseeing the organization and safety of these races. Any competitors engaging in unsafe or unsportsmanlike conduct can be disqualified from current and future races. We encourage all competitors to stick around for the awards celebration at the end of the day – relax, refuel, and drink a toast before you head home for the day. Have fun, be safe, and good luck!

Summer Lecture Series, Remembering Ludlow but Forgetting the Columbine , Frisco
Join Leigh Campbell-Hale of Lafayette History Museum for Remembering Ludlow but Forgetting the Columbine, in which she will examine the causes, context, and legacies of the 1927 Columbine Massacre in relation to the history of labor organizing and coal mining in both Colorado and the United States. While historians have written prolifically about the 1914 Ludlow Massacre, there has been a lack of attention to the violent event remembered now as the Columbine Massacre, in which police shot and killed six striking coal miners and wounded sixty more protestors during the 1927–1928 Colorado Coal Strike, even though its aftermath exerted far more influence upon subsequent national labor policies.

Audi Snowmass 50 Mountain Bike Race, Aspen/Snowmass
Grab your bike and pedal to the medal around a 25 mile loop ascending 5000 Feet. Solo competitors will have the option of 1 or 2 laps, or teams of 2 can race 1 lap each of the Audi Snowmass 50.
Previously known as Power of Four MTB Race, this race features 25 miles of some of the best single track mountain bike trails in Colorado. Divisions will be broken into 50-mile solo racer (two loops), 25-mile solo racer (one loop) and 50-mile teams of two where each rider completes one 25-mile lap.

Motorcycle Relief Project Poker Run, Paonia
This poker run is to help raise money and awareness for the Motorcycle Relief Project, a nonprofit organization that takes veterans and first responders on an off-road week-long adventure ride to help them cope with PTSD and other related issues. 100% of the money raised will go to MRP.
The player with the winning hand will get a prize of their choice first, followed by the second-place and third-place winners. Players can purchase and play as many hands as they want. REV is an enduro series created out of the desire to have a race series for everyone. From the first-time racer, the 9-5’er, to the pros, and everyone in between. Their crew has been putting on races for more than 10 years. The experience at the races is one of the smoothest in the industry.
Competitors can expect a single day of lift accessed and pedal transfers with 3-4 gravity fueled stages of racing. This is REV’s last stop on the race series and the race is full.

The Mines of Mount Royal Bike Tour, Frisco
Join Museum staff on a historic bike ride! This intermediate bike ride goes around Mount Royal and through the Tenmile Canyon, exploring the mines that once operated there. This is a great activity for visitors and locals who want to learn more about Frisco’s mining history, the natural environment, and the railroads of the area. The route is just over 5 miles round-trip with plenty of water breaks and scenic views making it a fun morning for the whole family.
