Colorado Mountain Resorts and Ski Area Improvements for 2025/26

On Mountain Improvements at Colorado Ski Areas and Resorts bring more than the gift of Skiing and Riding

Eldora Mountain and Vail opened today adding more terrain to Colorado’s ski country for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy. Resorts are investing in upgrades that every guest will notice, from high-speed lifts and expanded terrain to sustainability projects and on-mountain amenities. These improvements enhance flow on the mountain, shorten lift lines, and create a smoother, more enjoyable experience on the slopes.

MONARCH MOUNTAIN

At Monarch Mountain, the long-awaited No Name Basin expansion adds 377 acres of intermediate and advanced terrain — a 50% increase in skiable acres. A new SkyTrac triple chair will serve the area, giving guests access to runs that now extend onto both sides of the Continental Divide.

If you have not heard there are big plans in progress. Winter Park Resort CEO, Sky Foulkes, recently unveiled details about the resort’s expansion plans. It’s thrilling news that the resort is now sharing with the public and actively promoting the project. This significant expansion will unfold over the next decade, with a total investment exceeding $2 billion. Some of the initiatives include:

Expanding Vasquez Ridge Terrain (this will make Winter Park the 3rd largest major ski resort in Colorado).

A new Gondola that will connect the resort to downtown Winter Park, effectively making the town of Winter Park ski-in/ski-out (and the first leg of the gondola on the resort side is planned for summer 2025)

A ski trail to downtown Winter Park (usable for hiking and biking in the summer)

A brand new, 10,000 sq ft ski school located on-mountain in Discovery Park

A new restaurant on Vasquez Ridge and improving/upgrading current on-mountain dining options

Additional snow making equipment for Winter Park and new (for the first time) snow making equipment for Mary Jane.

Don’t let a slow to Start Snow Year fool you! Make plans now because when Mother Nature turns on the faucet you might get left behind. You know, there are no friends on a Powder Day…wink, wink.
