Cajun Fest Telluride Style!
The Telluride Cajun Festival is back again, and proud to announce its 2011 lineup for the South Oak Social on Friday July 29th. Headlining will be Mia Borders, a New Orleans sensation that is new to Telluride.
A South Oak Social will encompass a new location for the event, The Gondola Plaza at the Base of Chair 8, in historic Telluride, Colorado at the New Fat Alley location, Oak. This new location allows the festival to prosper without sacrificing the intimacy that made the event such a success in 2008 and 2009.

Mia Borders features an energetic blend of funk, soul and contemporary songwriting piece band that has captured the attention of both local and national audiences. Offbeat Magazine’s Alex Rawls writes, “Note to self: Pay more attention to Mia Borders”. Further, USA today named Mia one of the 2010 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival’s “hidden surprises.”
“We are excited to bring Mia to Telluride for the first time and offer such value to the locals with what we feel is an affordable and fun night,” stated Event Producer, Teddy Errico. “One quick view of her song above, and you’ll be impressed.”
Opening the festival will be Telluride’s own, The Great Funktier. Simply put, it’s their mission to bring funk wherever they go and will be a great way to get the party started.
The food will be another reason to come down to South Oak Street with Robbie O’Dell and Oak…The New Fat Alley. They will be cooking up tasty treats with a unique and different menu to complement the music.
New this year, is a free night of music on Saturday, July 30th at Oak…The New Fat Alley. Starting at 6 pm, local artists, Lily Von Shtupp will perform, while Oak…The New Fat Alley, will offer a variety of special menu items, with a New Orleans flair.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased locally at Wizard Entertainment, located at 126 E. Colorado Ave.
