Arapahoe Basin Opens November 2, 2024

Arapahoe Basin To Open on November 2nd for the 2024/25 Winter Season

Arapahoe Basin’s lifts will begin spinning at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 2nd, and will be open and operating seven days a week for the remainder of the season 2024/25 Ski and Ride Season! For this day Parking Reservations are not needed (please read below for more info).

“Every winter at The Basin brings something new,” Said Arapahoe Basin COO Alan Henceroth, “But this season, it’s all about delivering the A-Basin experience skiers and riders know and love—our mountain, our team, our vibe. This year will be no exception.”

On opening day, skiers and riders can enjoy skiing and riding on High Noon, accessed via the Black Mountain Express. Opening day will also feature giveaways and donuts for our first guests in line, and a DJ from 8:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. The resort has plans to continue snow-making and opening more terrain as quickly as possible, starting next with Lenawee Face and Dercum Dash.

*Please note – opening day is not a beginner experience, and our learning terrain will open a few weeks later.

Starting Friday, lifts will start spinning from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and be open and operating seven days a week for the remainder of the season.

New This Season – Successes in Sustainability

The 2024/25 winter season will be the first full season that Arapahoe Basin operates on a net-zero carbon footprint. In 2018 the ski area set 7 sustainability goals culminating in a completely carbon-free ski area by 2025. These goals include 75% Waste Diversion, Responsible Procurement, Increased Transportation Efficiency, Flat or Declining Domestic Water Use, Ecosystem & Wildlife Stewardship, and 100% Renewable Electricity. In September of 2023 we achieved 100% renewable electricity sourcing, the most impactful of their seven goals – addressing our largest source of CO2 emissions, and culminated in us achieving carbon neutrality ahead of schedule.

Everyone can proudly celebrate the success of carbon neutrality as a win for everyone who works and plays at The Basin. The Ski Area works to continually reduce Scope 1 direct greenhouse gas emissions and, on the way to eliminating these emissions, A-Basin offsets them through tangible carbon reduction projects. Arapahoe Basin partnered with Terrapass to create a portfolio of U.S.-based, third-party verified carbon offsets. These offsets also serve as a “self-imposed tax” for all emitted carbon and can help incentivize emissions reductions as cost-saving measures.

Winter 2024/25: Leave No Days Behind

With steeps, deeps, and no lift lines, Arapahoe Basin invites you to leave no stash untouched, no line unturned, and no days behind this winter. Enjoy over 1,400 skiable acres, the most challenging in-bounds terrain in the state, and a home-grown vibe all to be enjoyed across Colorado’s longest winter season – cough, cough 222 days last season.

Throughout seemingly never ending change, A-Basin stands as one of the finest gems in skiing and riding. The things that make us who we are can’t be changed. On top of our world-class mountain, we firmly value quality over quantity and work towards keeping this a beautiful, laid-back ski area with room on the slopes and a seat at the bar. After all, we’re still Legendary for a reason.

Preserving the Experience – Parking Reservations

Valuing quality over quantity, the Basin is working diligently to preserve the experience, mitigate crowds, put less stress on the terrain, reduce parking hassles, and shorten lift lines.

For the 2024-25 winter season, parking reservations are required on holidays and weekends between December 21, 2024 and May 4, 2025. After limiting lift tickets, which successfully managed skiers and riders on our mountain, this is the next phase in preserving the Ski area’s experience. They’re working to keep A-Basin a beautiful, laid-back ski area with room on the slopes and a seat at the bar.
