The Events continue to pile up even though the snow has not! Colorado’s MTN Towns are all hot with events and some snow to ski and ride! I have compiled a list for you all to pick and choose from. Keep checking our Events page as new ones continue to pop up.
20th Annual Aspen ShortsFest, Aspen
April 10 – 15
Recently named by indieWIRE as one of the world’s top-50 film festivals, Aspen Shortsfest is a premier North American showcase for short film and video. The centerpiece, the Oscar®-qualifying International Competition, offers an eclectic slate of films running 1 to 40 minutes, including drama, comedy, animation, and documentary. The size and venues of Aspen Shortsfest allow a unique chance for filmmakers and audiences to interact and connect. During Aspen Shortsfest 2011, nearly 50 film guests from the United States, Australia, Europe, and Africa traveled to Aspen to participate in public screenings, in-depth conversations on stage, and school education programs. Breckenridge Spring Fever, Breckenridge
SPRING FEVER BUD LIGHT CONCERT SERIES: Toots and the Maytals – Toots & The Maytals are one of the most well-known ska and reggae acts in history. Considered legends in their genre, their Jamaican sound is a unique, original combination of gospel, ska, soul, reggae and rock. Sunsation, Copper Mountain
This year Sunsation returns to Copper Mountain on April 14 and 15. The free event kicks off on Saturday, April 14, with the first-ever CopperMan event, an obstacle course that will put ice in contestant’s veins and finish with an end line celebration to put warmth in their hearts. Then, on Sunday, April 15, at 12 p.m., Copper and Woodward at Copper will host the inaugural Slopesoakers: Floating Rail Jam. Positioned in front of Jill’s deck, the pond will have a rail floating on top of inner tubes, creating a unique spin on the traditional pond skim. The event is free, and guests are encouraged to come and watch some of the best athletes get soaked. Throughout the weekend, live music will feature from Pata Banton, Michal Menert, the Spazmatcis, and an all-female tribute Lez Zepplin. For more information, guests can visit www.coppersunsation.com.

CopperMan Adventure Race, Copper Mountain
Seasoned distance runners and enthusiasts alike test their endurance amidst the high country scenery during the CopperMan Marathon, July 9. Featuring a full, 26.2-mile marathon, half-marathon (13.1 miles), 10K (6.2 miles) and two-mile run, the CopperMan is the highest and sure to be one of the most beautiful marathons in the country. Each event begins and ends at Copper Mountain, allowing participants, friends and family to enjoy Copper Base Camp with welcoming village restaurants eager to refuel tired bodies.
Super Woman Sally Supporters will have the option of purchasing a $49 entry for this heat, and 50% of proceeds will benefit Sally’s recovery. Super Hero Capes will be sold during the event for $10—100% of proceeds will also be donated to Sally. During the race, there will be an obstacle called ‘Leap of Faith.’ Followers of Sally’s recovery will be able to view images online at CopperColorado.com as race participants show their support by entertaining her with their best super hero leaps! 4TH ANNUAL SAVE OUR SNOW CELEBRATION, Arapahoe Basin
As stewards of an exceptional mountain environment, Arapahoe Basin Ski Area is committed to providing quality outdoor recreation experiences. Join A-Basin for a fun filled day of environmental education. All proceeds from this event will benefit High Country Conservation Center.
Visit with different likeminded companies in the base area and learn about their environmental initiatives. Tents will include High Country Conservation Center, Clif Bar, Siemens Wind Energy, The Front Range Ski Bus, and more. For a chance to win some great prizes, purchase raffle tickets in the base area as well as on the hill. Raffle tickets are 1 for $3 and 2 for $5. Lift tickets will be $64 on the day of the event. $20 of every ticket sold will benefit the High Country Conservation Center. Enjoy live music all afternoon! There will be a DJ from 12-2pm and High Five Band begins at 2pm. Springalicous, Steamboat Springs
Let Springalicious begin! The Cardboard Classic, Steamboat’s traditional rite of spring celebrating over three decades of fun, features homemade crafts constructed only from cardboard, glue, string, water based paint, duct tape and masking tape racing down the face of Headwall to a hysterical finish. The uniqueness and creativity of the race make it an event looked forward to every year.

Breckenridge Spring Fever, Breckenridge Rusted Root – Frequently featured in Hollywood film soundtracks, they are known for their unique fusion of acoustic, rock, world and other styles of music, with a strong percussion section that draws from African, Latin American, Native American, and Indian influences. Springalicious will feature its signature SPLASHDOWN Pond Skimming Competition Sunday, April 15th. Steamboat’s bravest (and maybe craziest) skiers/riders will attempt to cross an ice-cold pond at the base of the mountain, while being judged on distance, outfit creativity, and crowd response. 23RD ANNUAL ENDURO, Arapahoe Basin
We’re changing the Enduro up this year. The race portion of the event has been cancelled. Instead of racing on Pali, join us for an Apres Ski Party to raise money for Martin Dawson; your legs will thank you! Martin Dawson is the beneficiary of Arapahoe Basin’s 2012 Enduro. Martin has worked as both a ski and snowboard instructor at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area since the 2008-2009 ski season. In November of 2011, Martin suffered a rare stroke in his back which has left him now permanently paralyzed from his T5 spinal column down. Martin is currently undergoing treatment at Craig Rehabilitation Hospital. Unfortunately, he does not have any health insurance and continues to incur substantial medical debt. Martin was a participant in the 2011 Enduro which benefited the Leif Borgeson Memorial Fund. He has two sons ages 15 and 13.

The Spyder Grind, Arapahoe Basin
The area will be hosting The Spyder Grind, an uphill, downhill adventure race designed to introduce new participants to backcountry skiing as well as challenge veteran skiers. Races are modeled after European randonee events with competitors beginning on foot and running to clip into their skis. Athletes skin uphill on a challenging course and race down to the finish. The race category vertical is approximately 4,500 ft., while the recreational category is 2,000 ft. Full details about Arapahoe Basin’s events can be found atwww.arapahoebasin.com/events.
