The Town of Silverthorne announces that it will match donations for a local fundraising effort organized to purchase additional air filters for Silverthorne Elementary School. Using funds set aside for the Town’s annual Pumpkin Fest, which has been canceled this year due to COVID-19, the contribution is intended to help keep students and families safe during the pandemic by using HEPA air purifiers to reduce the virus load in the air, adding a layer of protection. At this time, there are so many fraternity fundraising ideas, whether that be raising money for air filters or for playground equipment, are great for bringing the community together and really making people feel like a team.
The month-long fundraiser will kick off on October 2, at the Town’s October First Friday event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Local’s Liquors, the business that initiated the fundraiser, will donate a portion of sales from 13 participating wineries, breweries and distilleries throughout the month of October. Additionally, Angry James Brewery will be donating $1 from all beer sold that day at their brewery. The Town of Silverthorne will then match the overall funds raised, up to $7,500.
“After making the decision to cancel our annual Pumpkin Fest event, we wanted to use those funds in a meaningful way, and show the community that we are committed to supporting one another during this challenging time,” said Sydney Schwab, Arts and Culture Manager. “In matching overall donations, we hope to raise enough funds to help Silverthorne’s students, staff and family members stay safe amidst the pandemic.”
At the harvest-themed Stroll Along the Blue October First Friday event, the participating wineries, breweries and distilleries will have booths along the Blue River Trail to share more information about the fundraiser and hand out branded items. Patrons will be encouraged to purchase the business’ products at Local’s Liquors store in Silverthorne any time during the month of October to contribute to the fundraiser.
The following vendors are promoting the fundraiser:
- Breckenridge Distillery
- Boulder Spirits
- Tivoli Brewing Company
- Voodoo Brands by New Belgium
- Tommyknocker Brewery
- St. Francis Wines
- Attimo Wines
- Elite Brands
- Wibby Radler
- Telluride Brewing Mountain Beer
- Epic Brewing Escape to Colorado
- Four Noses Raspberry Blonde
- Angry James Brewing Company
Any excess funds raised during the effort will be used to provide school supplies to students in need.
“I wanted to find a way for the business community to work together and help everyone feel safe sending their kids to school,” said Chris Carran, owner of Local’s Liquors. “If our kids are able to safely go to school it helps keep families working and businesses open. Plus, it’s a way to drive business for local companies that need the community’s support.”
The Town of Silverthorne makes the first Friday of every month a reason for residents and visitors alike to get together and celebrate what’s special about this vibrant community. From arts and food to music and fun, First Fridays is an extension of Silverthorne’s strategic vision to further establish the town as a cultural hub for the county. This Friday attendees will enjoy pop-up local artists and musicians, fall-themed activities and curbside cabaret from the Lake Dillon Theatre Company. Timberline Craft Kitchen and Cocktails will be providing free soup while supplies last and The Pad will be providing free hot cider.
