San Juans Prepping for a Snowy Season

If this past summer and this last weekend are a precursor to the upcoming winter season then I predict a snowy one! The leaves have not even begun turning into their glorious shades of yellow and orange and the Peaks are already heavily coated with snow. Heavy rain in the valley floor on Saturday during Telluride Blues & Brews cleared into a glorious display of dazzling white above while incredible sounds of Telluride Blues and Brews reverberated below.

Even after the sun breaking out, the snow continued to stay throughout the weekend!

After a series of snowy nights at Silverton Mountain, Colorado a few lucky ski patrollers jumped on the chairlift and headed to the top of Silverton Mountain to make the first ski turns of the 2011/12 ski season.  A fresh blanket of snow covered the upper mountain making for some fun ski turns.

The weather has been extremely wet the entire summer and that has continued into September. This could mark the start of another very snowy winter ski season so make your plans to get to Telluride and Silverton this winter season!
