Monsoon is Upon Us!

Monsoon acccording to Wikip[edia is traditionally defined as a seasonal reversing wind accompanied by corresponding changes in precipitation,[1] but is now used to describe seasonal changes in atmospheric circulation and precipitation associated with the asymmetric heating of land and sea.[2][3] Usually, the term monsoon is used to refer to the rainy phase of a seasonally-changing pattern, although technically there is also a dry phase.

Here in Colorado the monsoon is moving full speed ahead and we are in the path. Sunny mornings will give way to slow moving t-storms and rain in the pm. .36 inches of rain fell at my house just the other day which will keep it green! Pattern to continue for a while, with some days not as wet. Todays water vapor shot shows the clock wise wind and moisture flow around a high in New Mexico.

Mosquitos are as thick as the wildflowers if hiking near streams! If you’re not careful, you will be spending the majority of the time swiping them away from your face, so I suggest covering up as much as possible. You don’t want them to get in your clothes, do you? Because the next thing you know, they will have found their way into your pockets and then eventually into your house, which could have severe consequences to your health if you get bitten. So, it’s always a good idea to have pest control numbers written on a piece of paper that you take with you, or stored in your phone, to ensure that you can notify the relevant professionals as soon as possible if you notice that these pests have made their way into your home. The sooner they can be removed, the better for your health. Always be careful when hiking near streams during mosquito season. If you are, you’ll have a great time on your adventure.

Morning showers are on the way from Rifle as I write. Monsoon is with us so no hiding although last evening was a split in each county. Some areas pouring, while I was riding in sunshine up Salt Lick trail! Wildflowers are going crazy with Columbines in full bloom! Drier for the weekend but showers will still lurk!
Order for the day…get out and have some fun. Save the indoor gym and yoga classes for late this afternoon. The silver in the gray is that fire season is being supressed.
