Everything You Need to Know to Protect Your Skin at Altitude

Everything You Need to Know to Protect Your Skin at Altitude

Protect your skin at altitude whether you are traveling or living at high altitude, Colorado’s extreme weather can be particularly unforgiving on your skin. We talked with skin expert and paramedical esthetician, Lisa Haigh at The Face Experts in Denver on ways to help locals and visitors with the changes high altitude can bring to your skin.   No matter if you live here or are just visiting, how you take care of your skin is virtually the same, said Haigh who has been a paramedical esthetician for ten years. “You need to moisturize, protect and drink more water.  It’s also important to use skin care products that don’t strip the skin (i.e.; no squeaky clean cleansers). Skin is healthier when natural oils aren’t stripped from it.”   Adding serums can also help. Haigh suggests looking for anything with Hyaluronic acid. “Hyaluronic binds moisture to the skin and prevents water loss. If you are visiting Colorado, it is especially important in addition to hydrating and moisturizing, to protect your skin...

Carry Your Gear with Denver-Based MHM Backpacks

Carry Your Gear with Denver-Based MHM Backpacks

MHM Gear is a backpack company that is as native to Colorado as its creators. You’ll even notice a nod to the state in the brand’s logo. MHM has been in business out of Denver for eight years, and at the helm, founder Jeff Popp and vice president Casey Lorenzen are both originally from Colorado, and proud to say it. “At the time when MHM was getting started, nobody in the pack world was really pushing the fact that they were from Colorado and proud of it,” says Lorenzen. “MHM is born and bred Colorado, and over the years that has resonated with a lot of people.” Another standout aspect of the brand is a feature that has already given them some awards and attention in the outdoor gear industry. Their Snake-Loader™ zipper system wraps around the entire pack in the shape of an “S.” This allows access to any panel of the backpack, or you can open up the pack fully and organize your gear with it flat...

Incredible Location, Newly Refinished Amazing location just a few blocks from the ski resort and steps from the free city bus-route with a convenient stop 1/2 block from the house. World class powder is literally minutes from your door! Located in the prestigious Bear Creek neighborhood, the only high-end family neighborhood located mountainside to the ski-area, this area is quiet and safe (not a through street) with a school-bus stop within sight. 5Point Adventure Festival’s Lasting Impression

5Point Adventure Festival’s Lasting Impression

You will always remember the first time you attend the 5Point Adventure Festival in Carbondale, Colorado. It’s an event that bring together a worldwide network of adventure lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, athletes and filmmakers, propelling the non-profit’s mission to ignite personal and communal adventure of all kinds through the experience of sharing meaningful stories. While 5Point celebrated it’s 10th anniversary this past April, I experienced my first time at the festival. The event has grown increasingly popular over the last decade — so much so that most showings sell out. From Thursday night through Sunday, I was hooked. As seats filled and the lights went down, the town’s community center transformed into a captivating venue. I was at the edge of my seat at times, riding alongside an epic adventure, then moving into moments when I became overcome with emotion. From the breathtaking opener “Johanna,” to when I felt almost alongside Ben Page on his unbelievable adventure of “The Frozen Road.” After the final film on opening night, I could feel...
