Arapahoe Basin Opens Wednesday October 17

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area made the BIG announcement  they’re open for business as of Wednesday, October 17, 2012 and are we excited! The snow guns have been humming and tomorrow will usher in the official start to the Colorado ski and snowboard season. At 9:00 am sharp the Black Mountain Express lift will load up with happy skiers and riders to the beginning of the intermediate High Noon trail at mid-mountain.

“We’re extremely excited to be the first ski area to open in Colorado,” said Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin COO. “The staff and I can’t wait to see skiers and riders out on the hill having fun. That’s what we live for.” It is what we live for too! This office has been buzzing with excitement as we prepare to get back on our boards.

New at A-Basin for the 2012-13 season is the Pika Place Learning Area, scheduled to open November 2012. Situated in the base area adjacent to the Black Mountain Express lift, Pika Place is geared toward younger guests and first-time skiers and riders. Pika Place features a new trail, a new conveyor lift and Ace’s Kids Park, a beginner-level terrain park with smaller versions of popular features found in A-Basin’s other two terrain parks.

This season, A-Basin launched an on-site Rossignol Experience Center designed to help skiers elevate their on-mountain experience and skiing technique. This rental program features an array of Rossignol skis with auto-turn rocker technology, an innovation that provides greater control and confidence to skiers of all abilities.
