Avon’s majestic snowy mountains are an incredible backdrop for three days of Music and Brews and is the foundation for the WinterWonderGrass Festival returning to the Vail Valley February 19- 21 for it’s fourth year. This year the event will feature more than 25 bands and 18 Colorado breweries over three days. WinterWonderGrass Festival is the perfect storm of world-class bluegrass, roots and acoustic artists, craft beer and libations and star filled Rocky Mountain nights encapsulating all things Colorado. WinterWonderGrass is the most revered outdoor winter bluegrass and craft beer festival, entering its 4th year in Colorado and has elevated the fan experience to an exceptional level.
WinterWonderGrass packs an incredible amount of fun into it’s three day event, offering attendees the community and spirit of a small gathering with a contagious high energy. With the unbroken sound of acoustic rooted jams coming from 4 different stages throughout the weekend, the music never stops. Drawing from the environmental beauty and mountain lifestyle the majestic New York Mountain Range provides the backdrop for the festival, creating the ultimate winter gathering.
Headlining WinterWonderGrass Colorado for two nights is the acclaimed bluegrass band from Michigan, Greensky Bluegrass. Greensky has developed a large following in the bluegrass scene through grassroots touring, and are defining the genre for a new generation with their gritty, rootsy, Americana sound. Greensky Bluegrass is joined by Leftover Salmon, The Wood Brothers and Nahko and Medicine for the People on the main stage. Deep rooted, bluegrass legends Peter Rowan and Larry Keel also add to the stellar 2016 roster.
Additional artists on the line-up also include, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, Fruition, Dustbowl Revival, Grant Farm, Lil’ Smokies, Drunken Hearts, Mandolin Orange, Dave Simonett and Dave Carroll from Trampled by Turtles and more.
Colorado craft breweries will be pouring their signature brews from 2:30-5:30pm each day in the two heated beer tents. Both brew tents include side stages surrounded by hay bails and whiskey barrels, hosting raucous bluegrass jams. The festival has partnered with Great Divide Brewing and Crazy Mountain Brewing as the festival’s presenting beer sponsors. New to WinterWonderGrass this year is Napa Valley’s sustainable farmstead and winery, Long Meadow Ranch presenting The SoapBox Cafe and Wine Bar.
Each year WinterWonderGrass supports local Colorado non-profits with a focus on music education, environmental protection and disaster relief. This year the festival has partnered with Education Foundation of Eagle County (EFAC), Eagle Valley Land Trust and All Hands Volunteers. The festival will have composting and recycling stations to offset the environmental impact of the event. A Klean Kanteen stainless steel commemorative festival mug is included with each three-day festival ticket dramatically reducing single use plastics. WinterWonderGrass is a community and family friendly event with a colorful kids zone including face painting, hula hooping and crafts while parents can sip libations as the sun sets over the Colorado mountains and the music plays into the night.
